A Realistic Approach to Your 2021 New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a lovely holiday mini-escape, and are excited for all things 2021!

It’s no secret that this is the time of year where we are start resetting the lofty goals that we hope to attain over the next twelve months — but let’s be honest, when was the last time a New Year’s resolution absolutely changed your life? 😅I think a healthier approach to goal-setting is to make smaller changes along the way instead of attempting several HUGE changes, that are most likely unrealistic to keep up with.

your resolutions should INSPIRE, not intimidate. try setting smaller daily intentions, that will build up over the next 12 months to get you to your final goal.

Towards the end of last year, I was definitely starting to feel VERY fatigued… from work, the news, less-than-ideal lifestyle choices, etc. If there’s one daily intention I am setting for myself this time around, it’s to really think about the people, projects and messages I allow into my space — are they serving my ultimate goal of living a life of purpose? If not, they can go. It’s a super simple way to think about things, instead of setting strict goals that center around deprivation which we are so prone to do: eat less calories, work longer hours to make more money, prioritizing ourselves to the point where we are apathetic to others… all of that, no bueno.

Because at the end of the day, you can have everything… but it’s nothing if you don’t have your health — both physical and mental! And that means we need to start thinking about how the positive changes we want to make in our lives should make us feel positively about them as well! I hope this helps you rethink your New Years resolutions this year 😊 so that being said, what’s yours? xx
