Hello 2022, and Happy New Year!
Before we dig into what the next twelve months have in store, let’s see what the experts are saying about the 2022 fashion trend forecast! There’s already so much to look forward to in fashion this year: some of our tried and true favorites from 2021 are sticking around, like loungewear and cutouts. The Y2K trend is still popular, but it’s taking a backseat to newer patterns that are more mod or psychedelic. Voluminous silhouettes and puffed sleeves are in, and so are platform shoes, which are two huge wins considering they can be more forgiving in terms of comfort.
puff sleeves & volume
An easy way to look chic, guaranteed – voluminous silhouettes are fashion forward in 2022. We’re seeing some daring sleeves and shapely dresses.
Platform shoes are making a comeback and my feet couldn’t be happier. Fun pumps, comfy sneakers, and even winter clogs are all on the menu for 2022.
fringe & tassels
Boho may not be my go-to style, but I love incorporating some of its signature elements, like fringe. It’s being highlighted in winter edits, and SS22, too. The added pizzazz to your sweaters, scarves or even your shoes makes your outfit look effortlessly fashionable.
More on the 2022 color of the year here, but if you’re seeing more of this light purple color called Very Peri, it’s for a good reason! It’s the color of the year, and we’re about see this soft blueish lilac make a huge statement on runways and street style this year.
bold statement bags
Want to add a pop of liveliness without too much commitment to color? Bright bags are a great way to take any ordinary look to the next level. Mixing and matching colors is also super in this year, and I like that this trend is about having fun at its core.
One of the most popular outcomes of the Y2K trend – mini skirts. We saw them on all of our faves in the early 2000’s, and more than 20 years later, they’re back again. They’re versatile and come in an array of shapes and styles to accentuate your best features and keep you on trend.
