The Fashion Girl's Guide to Looking Chic in Oversized Clothes

Let’s chat about easy, breezy Spring style in the form of that chic, slouchy look!
Growing up, the idea of wearing anything oversized was COMPLETELY out of the question for me. Looking “good” in clothes meant they had to be form-fitting, and I honestly refused to settle for anything less.
These days though, I’ve grown to realize that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style — and if fashion trends are any indicator, women everywhere are in full agreement! Opting to go up one or two sizes in your clothes is not only trendy and comfortable, it looks so chic too when it’s done right! If you’re struggling to nail this look, and want to rock oversized clothes without looking like you stepped out of the bad end of a discount bin — here are three styling tips that you need to follow:
tip #1: play with proportions
If you’re not ready to fully commit to a head-to-toe oversized outfit, mix and match a bigger piece with one of your favorite form-fitting closet staples! Slouchy sweaters look great with skinny denim, and ultra-wide leg pants look fab with a fitted tank. Belts also help to cinch in the waist, and sometimes a fun detail like an open back, deep V, or off-shoulder brings visual interest to your look.
tip #2: avoid loud prints + clashing colors
An expertly styled outfit is one where there aren’t too many “statement” elements competing with each other — so if I’m rocking a baggy look, I prefer to stick with neutrals or monochrome colors with minimal print. That way, the silhouette of the outfit is the only thing doing the talking! Also don’t forget to steam your outfit to get rid of wrinkles! Oversized clothes don’t have to be sloppy, and over here, we’re always aiming for chic!
tip #3: polish up with accessories + glam
To finish up your look, intentional jewelry and makeup ensures that you look fully put together, instead of looking like you just rolled out of bed. No need to go overboard though! Your favorite earrings, a complementary bag and a touch of makeup brings the whole look together — and just like that, you’re ready to hit the streets in style!
