5 Black-Owned Fashion Brands You Should Have On Your Radar
black-owned businesses and creators 4 years ago
Hi friends! How are you feeling? I know – social media has been a LOT lately, even I had to take a short break.
That said, it’s a new day and there’s silver lining on every cloud. I’m so grateful for those of you who shared your support for #BlackLivesMatter last week – it was beyond anything that I could have ever imagined, but it’s still only the beginning, and it goes beyond a social media hashtag.
I’ll be honest. On this website right here, I’ve always shared brands and products that I love… and the brand owners have spanned across gender, race and national origin without a second thought of just how important it is to think about who I am giving my dollar to and encouraging you guys to support as well. Last week especially, it became very evident just how much black-owned brands and creators like myself have been sidelined in the fashion industry for decades. This needs to end, and I am pledging to do my part.
Starting this month, I will be a monthly feature to showcase a creator, makeup or fashion brand that is primarily WOC-owned… and I’m hoping to introduce new faces and products to you that you can fall in love with too! In the meantime, this first post is a round-up of SOME (wish I could share them all!) of my favorite black-owned fashion brands that you should have on your radar and in your wardrobe. Hope you enjoy! xx

this brand is right up my alley in terms of minimalism, muted tones and feminine silhouettes. The pink dress I’m wearing in the above photos is by Tove!

victor glemaud
Here’s another brand you guys might be familiar with if you follow me, because I always wear Victor Glemaud during Fashion Week… and my Glemaud looks are always one of your favorites! There’s no other brand on the market right now that’s re-imagined knitwear the way Victor has… and I’m so proud to call him a friend.
