Some fashion and beauty buys that have been inspiring me lately:

Heavy-Duty Winterwear

Over the second half of this month, I’ll be heading up north (DC and Chicago) for a couple trips, and I feel like my winter wardrobe is severely lacking. I mean, sure I have a couple coats and jackets… but I’m thinking that they’re probably not going to hold up in the freezing Chicago cold! I haven’t owned a parka in over 10 years… mostly because I used to think that they were so unfashionable and frumpy-looking… but I’ve started seeing them in a different light lately. Thank goodness, because I will definitely be needing one! The Yves Salomon parka definitely skews on the higher end of any girl’s budget scale, but this one from EXPRESS is the perfect budget-friendly alternative. When it comes to footwear, form over function is still key, and Sorel makes some great winter boots. In case you missed it, you can shop more winterwear here.

High-End Accessories

When aren’t high-end accessories on my wishlist? Bags and shoes always make or break an outfit, and over the past several months I’ve completely fallen in love with Gucci’s Soho Disco bag and Chanel’s Fall 2015 slingbacks. They’re both moving really quickly through the stores right now, so get ’em while they’re hot! Also on my wishlist: Gentle Monster’s Lovepunch sunglasses that are finally on the market — I became obsessed with them ever since I saw them on the Song sisters, and now they’re finally available for general purchase!

Classic-Tailored Knits

I’ve been somewhat of a sweater fiend this year, and my favorite silhouettes are the looser coocoon fit. In my opinion, the best places to get stunning sweaters right now are Aritzia‘s winter sale, Topshop (as usual) and Acne Studios if you have the budget for it. Topshop has some really cool hybrid sweaters in stock right now too, the come with a sewn-in white shirt underneath… stay tuned, because you may see me style this piece soon

Barely-There Makeup

As you know, I don’t tend to venture too far outside the box when it comes to my makeup routine, but I have to share some of my favorite additions to my collection! Becca makes some amazing highlighters, but a lot of them have a silver undertone to them… which isn’t a great fit for me. Until recently, I’ve been limited to using the Topaz highlighter…. until the Copper highlighter was recently released! It’s amazing guys, you NEED to get it!

Having fallen victim to the latest Pinterest makeup trend I finally decided to give liquid lipsticks a try, starting with Kat Von D. If you’re looking for the perfect nude, I’ve fallen in love with the Bow N’ Arrow shade (it’s what I’ve been wearing in all of my recent outfit posts, in case you were wondering!), and I use MAC Cosmetics “Whirl” lipliner to go with it.

And last but not least… I love a beautiful rose scent, and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to discover Diptyque’s Rose Eau de Toilette. Diptyque nails it when it comes to scented candles, so it’s no surprise that their wearable scents are just as amazing.
