Ready For My Close-Up

beauty6 years ago

Hey guys! So today, I’m taking you a little bit behind the scenes to share my blog shoot prep routine, and my favorite products to wear when I’m getting camera-ready. As you’ve probably noticed, I do wear sunglasses in most of my shoots — mostly because it’s makes photo selecting and editing a LOT easier… I never said I was a professional model, guys

— but that doesn’t mean that I don’t wanna be sure that everything’s still put together behind the shades!

My makeup style is pretty basic. I don’t do the crazy contouring/strobing/whatever’s all the rage these days — I usually just go for products and looks that work well from day to night, since I head to evening events straight from work during the week. To be honest, I’ve even haven’t touched an eyeshadow in over a year either… so it’s just primer, foundation, brows, blush/highlighter, lipstick, eyeliner. Super simple!

As you’ve probably noticed, I recently upgraded my look from a side-part short bob to a middle-part long bob… I was just in the mood for something new! To maintain this look, I upgraded my flat iron and do regular black rinses to keep my hair sleek, shiny and healthy.

I’m already thinking of another change though… like adding really light and wispy bangs — what do you guys think??

Other than product changes every now and then, I don’t usually do anything drastically different with my brows. The current product I’ve been using is by Kevyn Aucoin; I love the super-fine tip, how long it lasts, and how much better the darker color matches my darker hair. The color I bought and use is “Dark Brunette“.

My MAC lipstick collection is pretty embarrassingly extensive — I shared a couple of my favorite colors in a previous post, but I always tend to migrate towards the same neutral colors most of the time. For photos, I definitely like to keep things looking very neutral — so I do a mix of MAC “Whirl” and “Viva Glam III” to create a shade that works perfectly for me 🙂

I’m always looking for new ways to change up my look, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram for updates — and feel free to ask if you’re ever interested in the products I use in any of the pictures!

So yeah — that’s my simple photo-ready makeup routine! Pretty easy, right? Shop my full makeup collection below:
