You asked for it, and here it finally is: an UNSPONSORED round-up of my favorite skincare products, categorized by type!

When I started my blog, I did it for the love of fashion… but never did I think that my skin could become the star of the show! I’ll be completely honest before diving into my extensive product round-up: I don’t do crazy multi-step skincare routines every day, and I can count on ONE hand the number of times I’ve gotten a professional facial — so I hope these products I’m sharing with you are just as easy to adopt into your daily routine as they were for me.  Most of the skin care products I use are very gentle and sensitive-skin-friendly… so I hope you’re able to find something here that you can fall in love with as much as I have! Okay, now that that’s all out of the way, let’s dive in!

cleansers

Gentle cleansers are for my every day use (my favorites listed below at various price points!), and I use the Dr. Barbara Sturm Enzyme cleanser for a deeper clean 2-3 times per week.

toners

Post-cleanse, toners are essential to get rid of lingering dead cells, dirt and oil – helping to avoid breakouts and opening up your pores to get ready to take the good stuff in!

serums

Serums are a product I didn’t always use… but once I started, there was no going back! I love how they feel on my skin, and the dewy finish can have me skipping my makeup altogether! Keep an eye out for serums that contain hyaluronic acid – my go-to ingredient for keeping my skin hydrated day and night.

coco’s shopping tip:

not sure know where to start? pick one product from each category to build your own personalized skincare kit!

creams & moisturizers

Moisturizers seal your serums in, and feed another layer of nutrition to your skin. I like to focus on moisturizers that contain active ingredients to complement my serum base.

spf & uv protection

I hope you already know that you should be rocking SPF, regardless of your skin tone, my friend! Even if you’re melanin-rich, SPF goes a long way: blocking out harmful UV rays that can cause cancer, as well as protecting your skin from exacerbating dark spots and hyperpigmentation. My favorite SPFs listed below don’t leave an ashy purple-ish cast on my skin, making them perfect for every day wear.

acne & hyperpigmentation

Most of the above-listed products are for prevention… so what happens when you already have skin issues, and you wanna fix them ASAP? Here are my emergency products to rescue my skin and bring it back to balance.
