Trend Report: Bold Ruffles

coco's style8 years ago

From the runways, to your favorite high street store at the mall, there’s a very consistent theme I’ve started to see everywhere and it’s one that I’m all too eager to get in on: bold ruffles. Once relegated to your grandma’s outdated wardrobe, frills and ruffles are making a serious sartorial comeback, and they’ve taken on a new, young modern look that works for every and any occasion.

Because this trend can add lots of volume to your look, my favorite way to wear the trend is to pair ruffles with a sleeker body-conscious piece, like a great pair of skinny jeans, a mini skirt, or leg-lengthening heels if you’re wearing a dress. Ruffles are also a great added detail on your button-up shirts and sweaters, for a dressed up look that goes the extra mile with ZERO additional effort.

My favorite thing about the bold ruffles fashion trend is how they add a touch of whimsy and romance to any outfit – yes, even the most structured denim jeans! If you want to give this trend a go, start out with neutrals and pastels, so that the texture and layers can do all the talking. I’ve put together an edit of my favorite ruffled pieces from some of my favorite online stores; let’s go shopping!
