Here's Why You Need a Tennis Skirt Outfit This Summer

Hey, remember what short shorts feel like? I posted this tennis skirt outfit look on Instagram a few years ago, and you guys LOVED it as much as I did… and I realized that despite NYC’s 90º temps (and my legs being my favorite asset, ha!), it’s been a while since I’ve worn anything so short!

Inspired by one of my close friends here in New York City, who seems to have a never-ending collection of skorts… and a pair of enviable legs to match… I sought out some pleated tennis skirts for myself. With the recent rise of popularity of pickleball and paddleball this year,  “tennis skirt outfit” has been trending since spring has sprung, and there’s no doubt that this trend will carry us through until the fall. Beloved athletic wear brand Alo has an entire tennis collection to shop from. Whether you’re going for a sporty look or a cute and schoolgirly vibe, the options are seemingly endless right now.

My favorite thing about tennis skirts are the built in shorts underneath, so I can stay super comfortable and stylish without having to worry about the odd breeze rolling through to give me an embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moment… which in reality are never as glam as Marilyn made them look 😅 Shop my lineup of tennis and tennis inspired skirts below!

p.s. my T-shirt is from a black-owned eveningwear fashion brand called Aliétte – more precisely, owned by Hollywood stylist Jason Rembert who has worked with so many of my favorite A-list names. I went to their NYFW show earlier this year and fell in love with every look! Definitely a brand to keep on your radar… and it doesn’t hurt that it’s Issa Rae approved too! xx
