Just got back from my short trip to Essence Festival this past weekend, and had the best time in New Orleans 🙂 I love compiling all of my looks from my trips, so here’s another travel lookbook for you today!
My trip came together super last minute, but I was so excited to be invited to Essence Festival by B&O and Ford. I got to check out the 2020 Ford Explorer, and do some exploring of my own around NOLA to find some of my now-favorite underrated spots in the city. I’ll be sharing more on that soon, and it’s all happening on Instagram, so make sure you’re following me there!
The temperature and humidity was unlike ANYTHING I had ever seen before — 90°F and over 90% humidity made for quite the experience! So for most of the weekend, I ditched the heavy makeup and let the colorful clothes do the talking. Essence Fest fashion is all about vibrant colors, and African-influenced hairstyles, beauty and clothes… so I knew that I had to bring out another of my favorite dresses from A.Au (I wore another dress from A.Au in Rome!), and festival-inspired pieces from some of my favorite brands: retrofête and Hemant & Nandita.
While I spent a lot of my weekend with the Ford team, I still had time to check out the music acts and guest speakers every evening too! My (obvious) favorite by far and large was Michelle Obama — she’s incredible, but of course you already know that! Definitely looking forward to being back in New Orleans soon, I hadn’t been in over 5 years and I forgot how much I love this city!!!
