The Lowdown on Gucci Beauty: Love It, or Leave It?

Gucci gang, Gucci gang… today we’re talking all about Gucci beauty!
This isn’t the first time I’m talking about Gucci’s beauty products on my blog — I did a full review of their foundation and primer when it launched early last year! But by now, I’ve tried most of the other products in their cosmetics line, I wanted to share my full review with you, in case you’ve been contemplating adding a couple of items to your makeup collection. With so many luxury fashion houses dipping their toes into the world of beauty these days, you’re probably asking yourself two things: first of all, are their higher price points worth the money? And more importantly, is the quality of their products even any good?
the fashion house of Gucci is reknown for it’s celebration of self-expression, and with high quality makeup products, now anybody can tap into the magic of the brand at a more accessible price point.
You guys know I’m not one for the artistic eyeshadow looks or crazy, experimental colors… but all the same, when it comes to makeup on darker skin, I’m always looking for products with a good color payoff. So with that said, I would definitely start with Gucci’s liquid eyeliner, which is EXTREMELY black with a very pointed tip so that you can make the perfect cat eye every time! The first time I used it, I knew I was hooked… and you guys know how picky I am with my liquid eyeliners — a classic cat eye is my signature!
The matte liquid lip colors are another popular favorite, if you want something that’s transfer-proof with all-day staying power. From dusty rose nudes, to powerful reds and deep berry shades — you’ll be sure to find your signature lip color here!
I especially LOVE the bronzer, which comes in five shades. Again speaking on my experience, it’s surprisingly really hard to find bronzers for dark skin! But shade #05 (the darkest one) is absolute perfection, with a red undertone that’s flattering and bronzing on deeper skin tones to build dimension with a subtly luminous, sun-kissed finish.
Gucci beauty’s eyeshadow palette may be one of their more controversial products due to it’s $150 price and relatively limited shade options. However, for me — I love the mix of rich brown shades with the jewel tone accents for those special occasions when I feel like changing up my look! I feel like it makes for a great every day palette that I can wear from work to weekends, so if account for cost-per-wear, the price point can be justified!
Trying new makeup products is part of my every day job, so while I have a bigger collection than most — I’m a huge advocate in narrowing down your collection to products and brands that you absolutely love and can wear every day. That being said, if you’re curious to try Gucci beauty I say go for it! Most stores allow you to try products before you buy them and that’s the only way you can know if a product is truly meant for you.
