Staying Home? Here's 5 Things You Can Do During Winter Quarantine

lifestyle4 years ago

Pandemic aside, the cold temperatures outside are enough of a reason to want to stay nice and warm indoors! If you’re wondering how you can stay busy while staying home, here are 5 winter quarantine activities to help you do just that:

closet clean-out 👗

I finally cleaned out my closet last week, and it felt SO good! Not only did I rediscover clothing I completely forgot that I had… but now I also have closet space go to into the New Year with a fresh fashion perspective. Even if you’re not in need of a closet clean-out, what else around your home could use an overhaul? Your garage, refrigerator, or maybe even your makeup collection? It’s time for out with the old!

work out videos 🧘🏾‍♀️

Gyms are once again a no-go in New York City for the time being, and yeah… it sucks. But luckily you have all of the health tips you need right on the same device you’re using to this read this blog post right now! A quick browse on YouTube or your favorite health app will lead you to a variety of workouts you can do from home or socially-distanced around your neighborhood. Maybe you’ll even build up a new routine that you like, so you can say goodbye to gym membership fees in 2021!

learn a new recipe 👩🏾‍🍳

With freezing temps and several inches of snow on the ground in NYC, outdoor dining sounds… not so appealing at the moment. So why not learn how to make your favorite restaurant dish at home during winter quarantine? The best part is that you can enjoy your home-cooked meal your way: whether that’s right in front of the TV for a Netflix binge, or setting the table for a cozy, romantic vibe at home. It’s a great date night idea too!

write 📝

I’m sure we all remember our grade school days when we kept journals and diaries. Wasn’t that so therapeutic? Now think about the last time you put pen to paper and just started writing about… whatever you want. I think writing is a great form of self care, and sometimes it just feels good to make an effort to put your thoughts and feelings out on paper instead of holding them in. You may be surprised about what you learn about yourself in the process.

try a new skill or hobby✨

The internet is a great place, and there’s almost nothing you can’t learn how to do on it! It’s how I learned photography, how I learned basic guitar chords once upon a time… and how I brush up on my German every now and then when I’m feeling a little rusty (I REALLY don’t want to let go of the only other language I can speak!). If there’s anything you’ve been interested in learning to do, now is a great time to do it while you’re at home! Who knows, maybe I’ll pick up the guitar again this winter too 😉
